14 Elfin Days Until Christmas!

December is zooming along at the same pace as the rest of 2022. In a year dominated by Michael's surgeries, he is really looking forward to resuming his artwork with all his passion, enthusiasm and body intact. As for me, I am starting 2023 with a bang - I am booked for my right knee replacement on 9 January. My upcoming surgery is providing me with very mixed reactions - I want the bloody knee sorted but I am not looking forward to the process. However, I am hanging on with my eyes on the prize afterwards - a trip to our beloved Goldfields and Pilbara during winter. We should both be full of vim, vigour and vitality by then to engage in some serious fossicking.

Summer is still slow to really get going, but I am delighted to be in single layers - mostly. I donned a cardigan and leggings this morning but quickly discarded the cardy by nine o'clock. I was in the Gallery cleaning up after a splendid and intimate Open Gallery yesterday. We had a steady pitter-patter of guests without any crowds, along with a Christmas card making workshop. which was most pleasant. Jan serenaded us in the late afternoon and early evening, whilst the amiable David Gunter arrived with children James and Olivia in tow. The fabulous Tracey Martino had just given me a bag of craft materials, so the kids were gung-ho into creating masterpieces. Michael started fiddling with some modelling clay, and along with James, they produced a fantastically colourful scarecrow. Olivia's collage was also extraordinary. Whilst the children were engaged in artistic endeavours, David, Michael and I just chatted  with a few nibbles and the odd glass of vino. The icing on the cake was David purchasing two magnificent paintings by John Kaye and Mark Price. As soon as the proceeds clear, we shall be paying two very happy artists.

Sue Martin, our earrings goddess, also dropped in yesterday with some offerings for the Giftshop, including some beautiful Christmas earrings. Ever generous, she arrived armed with shortbread and Tim Tams. Workshop participant Michelle brought cake, savoury biscuits and lamingtons. We certainly didn't need any more tasty morsels. The other workshop attendees were fellow artist Denese and aspiring young artist, Sasha. Kim, our original card maker ran an easy and casual workshop over three hours. All were delighted. Her Christmas cards are available for sale in our Giftshop.

We will be running another Open Gallery next Saturday 17 December, but only until five o'clock. Sausage Sizzler to the Stars, Mister John Whittington, will be hard at work on the BBQ, raising funds for the continuing restoration of St Mary's Church here in Heavenly Beverley. Do yourselves a favour - come on down, donate to a wonderful cause and undertake perusing for Christmas gifts in the East End Gallery and Giftshop. Eggnog and cake will be available, along with tea and coffee and limited soft drinks.

Later on the evening of 17 December, we shall be attending the Beverley Christmas Party at the Station, a fantastic FREE events. Bring yourselves and a picnic and enjoy the festivities from five o'clock.

Our eighth birthday will celebrated on 19 December. We are thrilled and proud to have progressed our dream since December 2014. The Gallery will not be open on 19 December as Michael has a medical appointment in the Big Smoke. However, we will be open again on Thursday 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24 December until we run out of guests!

We really have some absolutely exquisite art pieces at present as well as the quirky and unexpected. Brian Aylward is still painting in his studio at age eighty-three and has turned over his works, much to our delight. Ian Kay's quirky sculptures are sure to raise chuckles, whilst wife Lindy has given us two additional stunning glass pieces.

One of our latest artists to join us, Marion Luck, already has one of her paintings "Abandoned" on layby by an enthusiastic local. We really are at the point that if our guests see the art work of their dreams, they really should layby the item to avoid disappointment. We do offer three month interest-free layby with a non-refundable deposit.

And now, sit back and relax in a comfy chair and enjoy the latest photos and a glorious kaleidoscope of art available from the East End Gallery, right here in Heavenly Beverley.
