A Fossicking We Did Go...A Fossicking We Did Go...Hi Ho The Derry-O...A Fossicking We Did Go

We celebrated three days back in our beloved Yalgoo from 30 June - 3 July.. Almost a week into our Great Escape and we finally were feeling all the stresses of the last few months ebbing out of our souls.

The first day there was actually taken up with re-organising Lily's (the car) back, working out why the f#$king water tank was leaking, but generally taking life much easier. The slow lane was looking better and better.

We enjoyed two very gentle fossicking days. I was slightly under the weather and was concerned about my rather chesty cough, but fortunately, that annoying symptom resolved itself.

The dogs behaved with astonishing alacrity. They responded well to being crated whilst we fossicked (kept them safe from snakes and 1080 poison). In addition, we have yet to have any accidents in the van. Their farting can be a bit eye-watering at times in the confined space of our van, but then so are ours!

An evening drink at the pub (the dogs were allowed into the bar), a couple of late afternoons around the firepit and an agreeable few days with artist Brenna and her dog Abby made for a most pleasurable stay.

The old tip at Yalgoo, as ever, did not disappoint.Whether the deluge of rain had unearthed buried treasure or we had just missed the area last year, the fossicking produced bountiful results. Michael was delighted with more bed frames, and between us, we discovered an axe head, a hammer head, two bicycle seats, a rather beaten-up wedge, horse shoes, chain, drill bits and other sundry paraphernalia. Enough to summon a stirring of Michael's creative juices...

We moved onto Northampton for one night en-route to Carnarvon. We discovered a very historic town with quirky overtones.  After a most pleasant overnight stay at the True Blue Caravan Park, we knew we would need to return to Northampton for a more in-depth stay.

Yesterday, we arrived in Carnarvon. A site very close to the loos was just the ticket. Suddenly, we lost two layers of clothing and brought out our thongs. We will be staying here for rest and recuperation until next Thursday.
