I closed the doors to the East End Gallery and headed for home right on five o'clock. Today was rather quiet with only a few guests but that actually suited me very well. I was able to edit another thirty photographs or so of the Gallery works ready to share online. The weather had continued changeable but at least there was more sunshine and less cloud. Roll on tomorrow and proper spring temperatures.
However, quiet at the Gallery was countered by drama at home. I did not sleep well last night and woke feeling rather ordinary. Trying to become compos mentis whilst slouched in front of the laptop was not helping much. Michael had given me tea - what a man - and was in the middle of cooking porridge when he announced he was feeling dizzy and had to lie down.
Nurse Ratchet immediately materialised and I was suddenly very alert. His colour was pretty awful and I told him to stay put on our bed whilst I hung out a load of washing. Upon returning, I checked his pulse, his oximetry and his blood pressure. His saturation levels were a tad on the low side so I encouraged him to take a few deep breaths. His blood pressure was boringly normal. However, his pulse was in the mid fifties. Michael's resting pulse in normally in the mid seventies, so I was a tiny bit concerned. Along with light headedness, he just felt off colour.
I stayed with him until he was a bit better. I opened the Gallery at one o'clock with some trepidation. He made himself some lunch and sat on his computer for a while before returning to bed. I checked on him throughout the afternoon, trying to work out what was going on A side effect of his pain levels, considering his broken foot is still very swollen and a colourful myriad of different shades? Or his pain meds? Or an infection? Or just a twenty-four hour virus? Living with Michael and his complex medical status means I tend to jump to the worst possible scenario before I look at him just being very fatigued or having an off day.
He fell asleep whilst I was walking the dogs. I stopped in for a cuppa with Greg and Jan and checked out the caravan park. For the first time in many weeks, there were only a few sites filled with vans. Perhaps the cool weather had kept our usual horde of visitors at home. So, anybody considering a short getaway this weekend, there is plenty of room in the Beverley Caravan Park!
We have a multitude of new art in the East End Gallery. The Giftshop is crammed with gift ideas for the festive season. One of our artists, the irrepressible Mister Neil Elliott has assured us that he will be bringing some works for the Gallery and then that space will be pretty full as well.
Now introducing our newest and youngest artist. Riona McClure. Riona is nine years of age and loves creating craft with pipe cleaners. She charmed us with her bubbly and confident nature. She definitely has an entrepreneurial nature and is guaranteed to go far. She has already sold one of her Silly Scorpions, available exclusively at the Giftshop!
Next weekend, our friends Jodi and Mick will be opening Reclaimed Emporium just up Vincent Street. They join Marion, Bec and Sarah as the latest arty editions to Heavenly Beverley. Kylie's Lucky Find frock shop is currently being revamped and we look forward to a whole new world of fashion.
Annis Woods and Thelma Cluning are both being lightning artists-in-residence at the Station Gallery over the next two weeks. Pop in to say "hi" and see what they are producing. The Platform at the Station will be hosting the community Christmas party on Saturday 18 December. Don't miss the action!
We will be holding our last Sundowner of 2021 on Saturday 11 December. You all know the drill. Pack up your troubles, wrap yourselves in tinsel, grab a plate and a bottle to share and enjoy our free of charge Famous Sausage Sizzle from 5.30 pm and live music from 6.30pm. If the night is warm. the wading pool will be filled. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Signing off now after another rather interesting (!) day. Michael's pulse has risen to above sixty, so I hope he is on the mend. I need a cup of tea and bed.
Goodnight everybody.
